Happy New Year! I hope every one had a great New Years Eve!

Well it is getting closer everyday to spring and a new season of racing. The board members and I are putting the last final touches on the new VanGuard class. This is going to very exciting and cheap for everyone.

There are two new tracks being built for the 2000 season, more info on those coming in future newsletters. Also there is a major swap meet in Ohio, on February 5th. More information on that in the pages to follow. The number for the Holiday Inn that is close to it will be in there as well.

I would like to thank the Campbell’s and Bulgrein’s for a the time and effort they gave up for the 1999 race season and all the people that worked at the tracks. Thank You Very Much!!!

If we all work together on our club activities, it will make it easier and more fun for everyone. I will be trying to get two more newsletters out before our season opener in the spring. If anyone wants advertise in the up coming issues, please get in touch with Randy, and he will set that up for you. Randy is taking time out of his very busy schedule to put this letter together for us. I would like to thank him as well.

I am very excited about this coming season!! It’s a great time to share in the fun with friends and family. If any one wants to reach me by email my address is [email protected].

Meeting

Board meeting for board members only will be held on January 29th at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Dave Pritchet's garage.

To be discussed will the be this years schedule, new tracks, and the Van Guard class rules.

The results of this meeting will be in the next newsletter.

Sanilac Kart Racing Club

VanGuard Class Rules
  1. All motors must be a 6hp Briggs and Stratton Vanguard.
  2. Headers allowed, (but not mandatory).
  3. Stock Carb ( no Modifications ) .
  4. Gasoline Only!
  5. Governor can be removed.
  6. Low oil shutdown can be removed.
  7. Stock flywheel shroud must be in place.
  8. Air filter system can up-graded. NO other modifications to the engine will be allowed (headwork, valve train, or any other internal or external parts, etc.).

  • Weight Min. 380lbs. ( no less )
  • No points systems.
  • The Driver with the most wins at the end of the year, will receive a jacket with his / her name on it!
  • All heat and main race wins will count for the jacket.
  • If you have to add weight to your kart, and it comes off during a race, you will be disqualified for that race only.
  • Clutches: Max-torque or Track Tune only. (We are trying to keep this cheap!)
  • Stock gas tanks or fuel pumps are allowed.
  • The winner of each race will start in the back of the pack on their next race.
  • On all races, you will draw a number for position, (except winner).
  • There is no arguing with flag person's or corner judge’s decisions. YOU may be disqualified for that race at the flag person's discretion.
  • Racing apparel must be worn during any racing event.

    • Helmet (Snell 95)

    Gloves

    Jacket (leather or road rash resistant recommended)

    Neck brace

    Closed toe shoes (leather recommended)
